The Loire 2026

Bonjour!

An early start, a long drive but what a view on arrival!  The Chateau at Amboise was lit up along the bank of the Loire river.  The students went to their rooms, got set for the night and sleep quickly followed!

The next morning, following breakfast the students went to the centre of the town to visit the castle, taking in stunning views along the Loire from its elevated position.  Following our exploration of this stunning building and grounds, the group headed to the final home and workshop of Leonardo Da Vinci following his move to France as a result of him designing another one of the castles along the Loire for Francis I.  In this building, the group got to look at his work and designs before retiring to the gardens to enjoy their lunch.  The afternoon was spent at leisure exploring the town and trying the ice creams and smoothies!  The temperatures had been so high the Bastille day celebration fireworks were sadly cancelled but we had the chance to watch the Semi-Final of the World Cup between France and Spain.

The next day started with a visit and guide to local chocolate manufacturers at Maison Bigot, these hand crafted chocolates were beautifully displayed as students were able to buy some of their presents for their parents.  The group then moved to the local town of Tours, where they explored the local boutiques and cafes before heading out to the Chateau Chenonceau and a river cruise.  That evening, we watched the demise of the English in the other semi-final before bed and an early rise for the return.

Enroute, we stopped at the amazing Nausicaa sea life centre.  Students were able to see a wide variety of sea creatures before embarking on the return leg of the ferry.  All had a wonderful time in France and we are looking forward to Paris 2027!
